Precise feeding and blending of the component materials is key to the success of the HVTSE® process. Unlike single screw extruders, the twin screw extruders are starve fed.

This means that the amount of material delivered onto the flights of the screws is directly related to Gravimetric process feeders are used to control not only the total volume of material flow, but multiple units are used in conjunction to accurately and precisely control different percentage combinations or blends of materials. These can be major or minor components of the overall total of material being extruded. Frequently the bulk densities of these individual components vary greatly from material to material and from product to product. The use of individual vibratory feeders insures that the materials are delivered onto the amount of extruder output. For output stabilization and consistency it is imperative that the feeding system is very precise in the amount of material fed into the system the screws accurately regardless of their bulk density and form.
