About the Role

The Process Engineer Technician position is responsible for start-up, operation and troubleshooting of sheet extrusion systems for wound, inline thermoformed or cut to length applications including travel to customer site for start-up and installation of lines.

Requirements

The Process Engineer Technician position is responsible for start-up, operation and troubleshooting of sheet extrusion systems for wound, inline thermoformed or cut to length applications including travel to customer site for start-up and installation of lines. This position reports to the Applications & Technology Manager.

Duties include:


  • Complete installation of extrusion lines (mechanically and utilities), hot torquing of adapters/downstream components, filling of water cooling systems and bleeding air from various systems etc.

  • Initial set-up of line prior to running material including safety checks.  

  • Setting of process set points for particular materials including PET, PP, PS, PE, PLA, etc. and establishing stable processing conditions.

  • Develop and lead process initiatives at customers site to improve quality and output

  • Develop and conduct training programs for Line Operators and Process Technicians

  • Work with plant process groups to improve technical capabilities

  • Logging/archiving of process data from start-ups and service trips onto PTi server

  • Required travel: 50-75%

  • Miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned


  • 3-5 years' relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in engineering and manufacturing

  • Good working knowledge of plastic processing set points (temperature, pressures, line speeds) for various materials.

  • Hands on individual, ability to operate sheet extrusion system.

  • Reliability Engineering skills

  • Understanding of polymer behavior and processes

  • Experience working with machinery

  • Training experience

  • Strong knowledge of Engineering principles

  • Good verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Computer skills (work processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
